One of the hardest hikes ive ever done. But it was one of the most amazing things I have ever done and seen also. :) did it in Blue Jeans. :( I should have taken my heart rate monitor. I bet my heart was off the charts from climbing and running.

Today was a beautiful run along side of this
small lake. It was also the first time I have ran 6 miles without
stopping. :)
Allen, Jeff and Rob all ran today with me. Allen did great for his first
mile and hung with me, he still managed to get in about 3 miles. :)

Thought I would try running again in the hopes that my right knee was healed. Well after about a mile into the run it started to hurt every time my right leg would impact the ground. This same thing happened to my left knee about 2 months ago. I let it heal for about a week and wore a knee brace when I would run for about 2 weeks and it finally went away. I haven't had any issues with the left knee since. I'm hoping the same thing goes for the left one. Maybe all that my knee's is just a nice break in to get used to all this running and then I won't have anymore issues? :( With that being said, I was hoping to run 6 miles again today but as soon as my knee acted up I knew that wasn't going to happen. So it ended up being a run/walk morning. We decided to start at a different point on the Jordan Parkway trail today. We started at 4800 s. and ran south to 5400 s. and then turned back. I have to say it is the prettiest part of the trail so far. There was a wildlife preserve the first half of the trail that was breath taking. Their Pelican's, ducks and much more wildlife enjoying the nice brisk morning. I will for sure run that path again.

Woke up this morning with getting 3 miles in mind. Looked outside and saw that it was wet but not raining. I put on my running gear opened up my door and it was snowing. Boooo. Well as everyone knows the rain and snow was on and off all day so that kept pushing it off. Also had to go to the dentist @ 11am to get a filling redone "I like have a numb mouth" haha. Then met up with Rob for lunch at my favorite Thai place. Well the wife got home at 5 and she decided to run on the treadmill cause of the weather and I took a chance and ran outside. I made it 1.5 miles strong and then I could feel my heart rate really picking up. It was a run/walk from there on, I really need to get rid of this cold. I managed to get 2.9 miles in 27.07 min. not my best, but not bad for the amount of walking I did.

Probably played my best round of golf ever. I hit a 33 on a 27 par 3 course. I had 1 Birdie and only 1 Double. I was planning on running after, but my knee was really feeling it after golf. But hey at least I got out. :)
|
|
| |
I'm going to blame my slow times on this dang sinus cold that I cannot get rid of. I still felt my knee a little bit, but didn't stop because of it. I found myself stopping because my legs felt weak and my heart rate kept climbing above 185bmp. That's where it was when I first started running and was out of shape. :( It was still beautiful outside and I really like this part of the parkway because of the scenery. There was a tailwind at first and then head wind on the way back!

Allen and I decided to run in Central park
today after work. It was probably one of the better run's I have been
on. It is such an amazing place to hang out and run. So many people out
being active in such a big city. We ran/walked since it's only his
second time running with me, but he did an awesome job IMO.

| |
| | Well blogger's. I was really wanting to run Central Park every day I was in NYC for these two weeks so that I was conditioned for the Ogden Marathon. Well between mile 4-5 yesterday my left knee started acting up again and after the 5th mile I could not run on it anymore. I had Ice on it all night last night and could not sleep cause of the pain. Today at work I was limping everywhere which isn't easy going through the subways, up and down stairs while wearing steal toe boots. I have no clue what is wrong!!!!!! Like I mentioned in the past, this happened to my right leg a few months ago but healed after a few weeks and I have not had a problem since. Well my right knee got injured 3 weeks ago so I backed off the running for 2 weeks trying to heal it. Guess it's either not healed or it's a deeper problem. I google'd the crap out of what it could be today and I'm leaning towards this??? "Iliotibial Band Syndrome" any opinions or solutions? I did manage to at least walk the small loop around the park tonight after work. :)

|
| | So since my knee is still acting up and we could not stand letting Central Park look at us Allen, Mo and I rented some bikes and rode around central park 3 times! I went to grab my garmin to track my heart and miles and realized it was dead so I had to use my iphone and Motion X GPS program to track it. It only lost GPS for about 1 mile on the last lap so it logged a total of 19.7 miles. It really kicked up butt on the uphills and made me realize how weak my legs really are and that could be the key problem to my knee problems. We still enjoyed every minute of it and I can't wait till I am healed up. :) http://maps.google.com/?t=p&z=15&ll=40.767385%2C-73.983190&q=http%3A%2F%2Fshare.gps.motionxlive.com%2Fshr%2Fx%2Fkmz%2F22c8eb1584348a29b74453a1a15b3c28

Ogden Half Marathon (13.1 Miles) 03:01:17 | |
Today was my first official race ever! :)
Since I knew I had a bummed knee I decided to take it easy today just so
I could experience the joy! So I decided just to stay by my GF Jessi's
side the whole race and give her moral support. She did awesome for not
really training this year also. I can not wait till I get healed up and
can try for a sub 2 hour 1/2. :)

| | Went and played golf today at 4 Lakes again. We just did the par3 course since it had been a few weeks. I managed to beat derek by 2 strokes. I think he shot a 39 to my 38. It was nice to get out. I forgot to turn on my garmin to track our miles. |
|
| |
- It was raining a lot here so I decided to just try out the elliptical also since my knee was sore from the race still. Well after about 27 minutes on the elliptical I was beat and was limping back to my room. I thought the elliptical was supposed to be easier on your body, my knee must really be jacked up!

| | Allen and I decided to take a tour around
Vancouver today. We only ran about 1.5 miles of it due to my knee, but
still had a good time. My GPS wouldn't get location until about .3 miles
and 6 minutes in so it's a little off. All and all we did a total of 11
miles today, not to shabby after the 13 miles I did last saturday! :)
Walking along the water wall was very scenic, sometimes it pays to
travel! <iframe width='465' height='548' frameborder='0' src='http://connect.garmin.com:80/activity/embed/88582368'></iframe>

Allen and I decided to rent some bikes and
ride around the park and city of Vancouver BC today! I have to say I
really need this cross training. I have come to realize that my thighs
are really weak and that could be part of why I keep injuring my knee.
Still managed to get in almost 34 miles today and saw a lot of breath
taking sites! :)
|
|
| | 30 min on the elliptical with it doing mnt setting. It was between 30-45 adding incline as it went. It felt good and I finally started to sweat the last 10 minutes. My watch died about 3 minutes into it so I wasn't able to log it. On a side note I was watching the NHL Finals and heard the city explode when they one! lol |

Another 30 min on the elliptical today. Set it on Mountain intervals so it went from 30 resistance with 6 incline to 25 resistance with 16 incline. Knee didn't feel a thing, so I think I'm just going to keep this up for awhile till it heals all the way and maybe get it stronger at the same time! :)

Mo wanted to go for a bike ride today. I was
hesitant at first cause the 34 miles I did last week kicked my butt,
but I wanted him to see the town also. We took it a lot easier than last
week and it wasn't that bad. Beautiful day and scenery again. Love this
town! :)
|
|
| | Wanted to do an hour today. Guess not
working out all week and having an extremely lazy weekend with not
eating till 3pm today was a bad idea. Maybe next time.
|
|
| | Did 15 min on the Elliptical. Then decided
to do some jump rope and knee lifts. I was 2 minutes last on recording
the jump ropes.
